Luton Hoo – Hotel, Golf & Spa Transformation of the Grade I listed country Mansion and surrounding grounds into a 5 star luxury hotel. Luton Hoo is rich with history and was at one time owned by the founder of De Beers, Julius Wernher. It hosted a victory speech by Winston Churchill after the second world war and the Queen and Prince Philip visited Luton Hoo during their honeymoon year in 1947. KMG worked closely with historic buildings architects Clague to design renovations and conversion of the late 18th century Mansion into the main hotel facility. Structural works included alterations for new stairwells and lift shafts, and re-support of key load-bearing walls. New additions included the reinstatement of an earlier period mansard roof to the front elevation. The former stable block was converted and extended to provide a golf clubhouse, bar, brasserie and spa including swimming pool. Additional hotel bedrooms were created in two purpose built annexes and associated staff accommodation block. Warren Weir at Luton Hoo A purpose built convention centre and wedding venue with accommodation, function rooms and leisure facilities in the grounds of Luton Hoo. Constructed on re-claimed land adjacent to the River Lea and landscaped lakes in the eastern part of the estate. The works included a variety of concrete, masonry, steel and timber structures with associated roads and drainage.
